Top 5 Sound Sleeps in Memphis, TN
1. The Peabody Hotel
This Memphis luxury hotel is located in the heart of downtown and has been serving tired customers since 1925. The hotel is part of the Historic Hotels of America program, and is probably best known for the Peabody Ducks who live on the hotel roof and swim in the indoor hotel fountain everyday! Check out our post about the 10 Things You Don’t Want To Miss In Memphis for more details. The hotel has also been featured in several movies over the years, most notably in the 1993 Tom Cruise film “The Firm”. The hotel has several different room types to choose from, and a classic indoor lobby bar where you can sit and watch the ducks swim.
2. Big Cypress Lodge
Big Cypress Lodge is located in the Bass Pro Shops building in the Memphis Pyramid (read more about it here). The lodge offers a very unique look and feel. Per their website, the lodge features over 100 rooms, including “treehouse retreats, private cabins, luxurious suites and elegant lodge rooms”. Many rooms offer either a view of the city / Mississippi River, or an interior view of the “cypress swamp” that makes up the Bass Pro Shop inside. With this combination of rustic luxury, it will be a stay that you will definitely remember!
3. The Guesthouse at Graceland
For the Elvis fans out there, you can stay right next to the King at The Guesthouse at Graceland. This 4-star hotel is located adjacent to Graceland and is decorated in a modern yet slightly flamboyant style that Elvis would surely approve of. The hotel offers multiple variations of rooms and suites, and you can usually find live music in the main lobby playing…you guessed it, Elvis! There are also internal TV channels dedicated to Elvis movies 24 hours a day. Given its proximity to Graceland, this is one hotel that needs to be on your list.
4. Graceland RV Park and Campground
This RV park is directly associated with Graceland and is located just across the street from The Guesthouse. We did a complete campground review that will help you know if this park is right for you. Most of the sites are full hookup and pull through, which makes this campground convenient for sure. With its location in the city, pull-through full hookup campsites, and affordable price, we think this campground is one of the best Memphis has to offer.
5. Tom Sawyer’s RV Park
Technically speaking this campground isn’t located in Memphis, in fact it’s across the Mississippi River in Arkansas….but that’s part of what makes this campground special. Located on the banks of the Mississippi, it offers a unique view of the mighty river and some impressive views. Barges frequently pass the campground and you can just make out the 2 Mississippi river bridges in the distance (especially when they are lit up at night). The park offers 100 different campsites, many of which are full hookup and pull through and some even feature river front views. Staying here does add to the commute (about 20 minutes to downtown Memphis), but the location on the river and views of the city make the drive worth it for many people.
