Kimmie

Hi, I’m Kim. I’m a stay at home mom and a former Labor and Delivery/ICU/ER nurse. When we’re not traveling or planning a vacation you will probably find me baking and decorating cookies (at one time I even had my own custom cookie baking business).  As fun (and tasty) as that was, in the end we decided that custom cookie making took too much time away from the family…although I still find a way to incorporate that fun into our time together.

When Matt and I first married we were travel nurses, which allowed us to travel the country and get paid for it!  So our first year and a half of marriage felt like an extended honeymoon (with a little bit of work thrown in there). If he had not gone back to school, I think we would still be traveling full time. It was the best nursing job I’ve ever have had!

Even after we settled down from full-time travel, my passion for travel and finding interesting places to eat has continued to grow. We are usually thinking about where we’re going next before we leave and finish the vacation we’re currently on! I hope our story can inspire you to get out there and spend s’more time together with your family!

If I had to choose, I’d say that my favorite places I’ve traveled to are:

  • Banff
  • Yellowstone
  • Venice
  • New York City.

But, there are still plenty of places out there left to explore.  Someday, I’d love to make it to :

  • North Dakota (I’ve been to the other 49 states already…..so I can’t wait to check ND off my list !)
  • Bora-Bora
  • The Great wall of China
  • Glacier National Park
  • And ultimately… an African Safari

As important as traveling is to me, I’d like to take a minute to tell you about the most important thing in my life…my relationship with Jesus Christ.

You see, I was raised in the church, thanks to my parents. I knew about God, but didn’t know him personally growing up (you know, there’s a difference in knowing about someone and REALLY knowing someone). To be honest, I had no real desire to know God in my teen years, and it showed…I lived a life full of sin.

Fortunately, at about 20 yrs old, the Lord really started convicting me about the way I was living, and He began pulling at my heart strings. I resisted for a while, and that led me down the road to a very dark time in my life. One night, while lying in bed I was very scared, very lonely, and my soul was in turmoil when I remembered what I had been taught about Christ as a child.  I cried out to Jesus for forgivenesses and an immediate a peace came over me…I surrendered my life to Christ.

A few years later, I began praying that God would send a good christian man into my life. The Lord blessed me with Matt, who really encouraged my Christian growth…the Lord answered my prayer & gave me my perfect mate.

I had been baptized as a child (at 12 years old) but really, that was just for show.  I didn’t know Jesus as my savior at that time, so honesty it didn’t really mean anything to me. So in 2007, this time as a believer and follower of Christ, I was baptized again, to show the world that I am not ashamed of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus has changed my life. I can’t tell you how thankful I am that God never gave up on me (He won’t give up on you either) and urged me to call out to Him that night. Life is so much better…not necessarily easier…but filled with hope.  You can know and experience that hope too!
