Jetty Park Campground Review – What You Need To Know

Jetty Park Campground Review – What You Need To Know

We recently camped for 3 nights at the Jetty Park campground near Cape Canaveral, Florida. The location made it easy to explore the area, and make repairs to the flat tire we experienced on our journey. If you are planning a trip to Florida’s Space Coast, read on to find our what you need to know about this popular east coast campground.

Location Of Jetty Park Campground

Jetty Park is located on Florida’s east coast near Cape Canaveral. This area is known as the Space Coast, and for good reason. NASA and Spacex have been launching rockets into space from this area at a fascinating rate. The campground is located just a few miles down-shore from the launch pads of Cape Canaveral (although it takes approximately 25 minutes to drive to the space center’s visitor’s complex). In fact, the beach near the campground is an ideal location to watch a launch take place during your stay.

For reference, Jetty Park is just over 1 hour south of Daytona Beach, FL and only 15 minutes north of Cocoa Beach, FL in the Port Canaveral area, just of of Florida’s famed Hwy A1A.

About Jetty Park Campground

Jetty Park campground is run by the community of Port Canaveral. We counted 134 RV campsites during our stay, along with 21 tent-only sites and 8 cabins available for rent.

In addition to these sites (which are located inside the fenced and gated campground area), Jetty park also offers 23 campsites in their Inlet Camping area. Sites in the Inlet Area, offer water views, but have limited amenities (water only) and are tightly spaced, making them suitable for tents or smaller RV’s only.

Inlet Camping Area

Of the 134 RV sites we counted, all have water and electric hookups (either 20 amp/30 amp service or 30 amp/50 amp service) with a good amount of full-hookup sites (water/electric/sewer) mixed in. As with most publicly run campgrounds, the sites are somewhat spacious with a good amount of shaded sites available for those interested in them. As a 30-amp rig with only 1 AC unit (1500 BTU) we appreciated a shaded spot to help counter the Florida heat and sun.

Jetty Park campground is part of the Jetty Park Recreational Area run by the Port Canaveral township. The campground is located near the area’s boat launch, cruise ship terminal, and public beach access. In fact, the Jetty Park beach is located just outside the campground gate, making it just steps away from the door of your RV.

Prices vary depending on the level of hookups, the type of site, and are seasonal as well (with winter rates being an average of $10/night higher than summer rates). Summer prices range from $24/night for tent sites up to $54/night for “Improved” RV sites with slab.

We stayed in site 355, which was a full-hookup site close to the public beach access. While not particularly shaded, the site was conveniently located near the beach and easy to back into.

Insider Tips

  • Due to the popularity of the campground, reservations are highly recommended and cam be made online here.
  • Sites 308 – 328 offer the closest beach access, and are actually cheaper than some of the other sites in the campground because they feature a gravel pad instead of concrete.
  • The campground roads are a mixture of sand and dirt and can be quite dusty during the dry season.
  • Check-in is at 2:00 PM while check-out is at 12:00 PM.
  • Campground fees include admission fees for use of the beach and park area…no need to pay twice!
